Kim Yancey
Offices & Operations Manager
Kim had an exciting journey that combines financial expertise with creative operations. She began her career as an accountant, spending six years sharpening her analytical skills before transitioning to enhance the financial aspects of marketing for the Tanger Outlets portfolio. Recently, she has held positions at Wyndham Capital Mortgage, Dexian, and ACE Creatives, where she worked closely with creative and marketing teams. Together, they have driven alignment across various industries, including retail, real estate, eCommerce, media, mortgage, financial services, marketing agencies, staffing, and IT consulting. Kim is thrilled to apply her financial and creative operations expertise to a new industry with Designbar!
Why Designbar? I have been working in creative operations for several years. As I was seeking my next opportunity, I wanted to focus on an industry I am both interested in and passionate about. Interior design has captivated me since childhood. As I've grown older, I've learned to express myself through my design choices in my home, finding joy in changing the decor as I evolve.
Kim’s Design POV
-
Favorite Piece of Furniture
My favorite piece of furniture is a cobalt blue buffet that was refurbished by ReNew Home Charlotte. I have several pieces from Holly, but this one has become the centerpiece of the house. You can see it from the entryway, and it is surrounded by artwork from our travels. Not to mention, it's great for storage!
-
Favorite Design Style
I prefer the clean lines of mid-century modern furniture, but my design style has evolved to be more eclectic over the years. I look for pieces that I love, that bring me joy, or that are visually interesting, and then I find a way to make them work in my space. I don’t confine myself to a specific style; I simply buy things that make me happy!

Bucket List Experience
I just checked off my number one bucket list item: a trip to Japan, where my mom is from! My next goal is to explore the wine countries in Italy, Spain, and France. Basically, I want to visit wine country anywhere!

Dream Celebrity Client
I could name several Broadway stars I would love to work with simply to hear them sing. However, my dream project would be either a cozy, unpretentious neighborhood wine bar or a theater experience that captivates you from the moment you walk through the door—not just by what's happening on stage. This is similar to what the Broadway revival of Cabaret is achieving.
